Welcome to ReDefine U Fitness and Nutrition! My name is Kristen Maynard and I am the founder of ReDefine U. Working in the fitness and nutrition industry, I believe it’s critically important to get to know my clients, their desires, the path they want to embark on and how they got where they are today. In return, it’s only fair that I share the same with you.
How about: I am what popular culture refers to as a Millenial living in Chandler, AZ where I grew up as the older of four siblings. We were all very active as young children and I played school and club sports. However, I was also struggling with a mental disease that consumed my every move.
For most of my teens and early 20s, I struggled with an eating disorder. My mental and physical state slowly deteriorated over my high school and college years.
I hated my body, hated my appearance, and hated feeling so unhappy all the time. I unwillingly went to an outpatient rehabilitation program and managed to put on some weight but once I went away to college, I dropped weight again and the cycle continued.
Sure, physically I may have looked “good” but inside I felt awful. I felt insecure. I hated me.
I started working at a bar and that only exacerbated things. I was drinking frequently, not eating, and letting my emotions get the best of me. I was starving my body, obsessing over food and I was so unhappy.
I thought that I could get my best body by hiring a personal trainer. So I did and I trained with him for four years. I absolutely loved it, but I never saw the results I wanted because I wasn’t eating!!
I finally realized that I did not want to go through life feeling this run down and unhappy. I hit a breaking point.
I remember the specific moment I made the commitment towards becoming a better version of me. I was so sick of idolizing other women and their body shape. I knew I could be them if I put my mind to it. I was an extremely driven, type A personality, straight – A student, go-getter in my career path, so why couldn’t I do the same personally? If was then that I made that commitment – to do whatever it took to get both physically and mentally happy.
I have made leaps and bounds since then. Both in my personal life and career path. I have transitioned from envying others to becoming the best version of ME. To ReDefining ME. I have come to the realization that all I am ever going to be is me, so I have the choice – to continue to hate myself, or to recognize what is that I do not like, and take the steps to change it.
This is exactly the premise for ReDefine U. This is the vision I had when I founded this company. This is what I want to instill onto others.
I 100% believe that it was through health and fitness that I saved my own life. I believe that the mental demons would have destroyed me had I not had the courage to stand up to them and take back my life. No one was going to do it for me – I had to find that strength within.
This is exactly what I want for each one of my clients.
ReDefine U embodies every aspect of a healthy, happy, and sustainable lifestyle. I do not believe there is a one-size-fits all approach to achieving your goals, which is why I want to work one on one with you to break through barriers and achieve lasting results. Oftentimes, long-term health goes beyond just a cookie cutter meal plan and exercise lists. I aim to bring education, awareness, and mental and physical strength to my clients as we work towards this lifestyle change. There is no “diet” to “fall off” of here. No, instead we will be working together to find what works for YOU, YOUR body, and YOUR life.
ReDefine U is a commitment to you to push beyond fears, limits, circumstances, and past experiences to build a better YOU. Whether your goal is to lose weight, gain muscle, or simply to find a healthy and happy balance, ReDefine U is committed to helping you get there.
These plans are truly customized. I personally make each and every plan based on the answers to your responses in the detailed questionnaires I provide to you upon purchase of a plan. I recognize that not everyone has the same needs, goals, schedules, etc. which is why I see to it that I design a plan that works with YOUR lifestyle.
Yes – of all ages and skill levels as well
No you do not. I list not only your protein, carbohydrate and fat requirements for the day, but I also give you exact foods and measurements to fill those macronutrients. So you can choose to follow the meal plan and never have to worry about the macro counts. On the other hand, if you are comfortable tracking your own macro intake, you can choose to fit your foods into your macro assignments.
I also provide a macro swap guide and “how-to” guide for macro tracking apps for further learning.
My training plans are designed to cater to YOUR lifestyle. So if you do not belong to a gym, I can design something at home. I will say that the benefit of having access to a gym is the variety of exercises. I do encourage a gym membership, but it is not required.
Currently I do not. I list the exercise name, sets, reps and cardio. I use exercises that fairly common place, so you won’t see some crazy new exercise that I made up listed on a plan.
A simple google search would suffice for anything you weren’t sure on.
My meal plans and training plans are on a month to month basis. At the end of each month, we can assess where you’re at and if you would like to continue, at which time it will be entirely up to you. You will then pay for the next month. You will never be automatically billed.
Kristen has motivated me and inspired me in so many ways to benefit my health and well being. Thank you Kristen for being you.
First boot camp tonight with Kristen & I loved it! Awesome work out!
